Make sure your engagement photoshoot is amazing

There’s no better feeling than the one you get when you say I do! Absolutely nothing can prepare you for the excitement you feel knowing that you’re going to marry the love of your life soon. What better way to showcase your excitement than to have an amazing engagement photo session.

Seeing as though you’re only going to do this once – hopefully – you need to make sure you don’t end up with dead average photos. Here’re a few tips to help you make the most of your engagement photoshoot:

1.Choose a photographer with an artistic eye

You want your photographer to capture moments and things that you wouldn’t think about capturing yourself. Whether it be an unposed loving moment or a close-up of your hands showcasing the sparkling engagement ring, or focusing on unique elements in the shots, you want a photographer that gets more than just presentable photos. You want your photos to portray unique, special little details.

  1. K.I.S.S

A charming kiss is always ideal for a photo, but this is not the kiss we’re talking about. K.I.S.S – keep it super simple. While you may be tempted to dress extravagantly, ride on a white pony or pose in very tricky positions, the best photos are usually simple and natural. You and your partner need to feel at ease during the photoshoot to ensure the photos come out nicely. So don’t steer away from the natural, simple poses; these poses have stood the test of time for a reason.

  1. Pick your outfits carefully

Firstly, avoid hectic patterns, pictures or branding on your clothes. Wearing distracting clothing does not do your photos any justice, and it’s something you will regret in the future. Go for new, well-fitting and flattering clothing that you feel comfortable in. You do not have to take photos in different outfits; however, if you’d like to change up your photos, consider bringing along one casual outfit and one more formal outfit to the photoshoot. Perhaps you can use different scenery for each outfit, for example an outdoor casual shoot and an indoor formal shoot.

  1. Find a location that suits you

Do you enjoy cooking? Well then consider an in-home session, cooking or baking together. Are you a coffee lover? Perhaps a sit-down shoot at your favourite restaurant, drinking coffee with your other half would be the ideal. Do you love the outdoors? Have a fun outdoor photoshoot at the beach, on a farm or in the mountains. You’ll get the best results at a place you both like!

  1. Be playful

Last, but not least, your photoshoot should be a great experience! You’re young and in love – you’re allowed to be playful during your photoshoot. So liven up the photos by simply enjoying the photoshoot with your partner. Whether you choose to incorporate props, forget you’re even in front of a camera (this is usually how you get lovely natural poses) or act silly with each other, make sure you have fun.
